In the days immediately following Christmas, we do several things: Sink hours into replaying timeless Mario classics (currently we’re collecting Ace coins in
Super Mario Advance), ponder all kinds of Mario-related things we could buy with our Christmas money and begin scrawling out a list of Mario gifts we want for next Christmas. Pretty standard, right? Problem is, there are so many wonderful Mario trinkets and toys that have been released in the last twenty years that it’s hard to decide which search terms to use on eBay.
Worry not, Mario fiends! This week we present a gallery teeming with Mario stocking-stuffers old and new. Yeah, some of them were released only in Japan over ten years ago, but that doesn’t mean we can’t covet them greedily. Others are available on shelves at the time of writing. Either way, you’re sure to be amazed at the breadth of material goods upon which Mario’s trademark has been shamelessly stamped. Check out these sweet toys!

It’s-a Mario World is a recurring feature in which the ubiquity of Nintendo’s flagship character is celebrated. Check back each week to find out what strange and wonderful thing has us seeing power stars. * * * Link of the week: Mario vs. Master Chief!

With this being Christmas Eve and all, it’s the last shopping day before Santa comes shuffling down that chimney. So, do you have to pick up any last-minute gifts? If not, did you pick up any gaming gifts this year? Wii stuff? If the particular individual reads us and knows your account name, then, uh, lie.

Christmas: for those who celebrate it, a time of joy, happiness, togetherness, and rampant, ugly consumerism. Love it or hate it, you can’t exactly ignore it, so let’s talk some more about your plans for this season of “love and laughter and joy” (thanks, Cliff). Which Wii games do you plan to put on your list to Santa, and — more importantly — what will you be buying others?

So says Sega A&R man Darren Williams in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, who also described the console as “the kind of thing that families will play at Christmas, and probably won’t play again throughout the remainder of the year.”
Before we all fetch the pitchforks and start constructing crude Darren Williams effigies, perhaps it would do some good to calmly consider whether the man has a point. In this blogger’s personal experience, a small number of families do only use the Wii sporadically, and Williams clearly isn’t referring to Wii Fanboy staff or readers.
Whether these occasional players are such a bad thing is another debate entirely. One popular theory seems to be that newer gamers are less likely to invest in new Wii software, but we saw yesterday that the Wii’s tie ratio is thoroughly healthy. What sayeth you?

As promised, I took paparazzi photos of the party. I teleported in at around 8:30 pm SLT. There were about 20 to 25 avatars there. Some names were familiar but many were not. Isadora Fiddlesticks…

Actually, Winterfest 2007 started 2 days ago but today I went to visit Chalet Linden to get a HUD and Voss (which is just next to it) to take a look at the snowmen created at the Snowman Making Contest.

There are some people hanging out at Chalet Linden. At first, I thought that Chalet Linden is a name of a person or avatar but it’s not, it’s the name of the place. The Winterfest Kiosk is just near the landing point and touching it will give you Winterfest 2007 shirts and a HUD. You can use the HUD to visit the many places and events scheduled for Winterfest 2007.

Inside the lodge sat Santa Claus and I took the opportunity to sit on his lap and tell him what I want this Christmas. LOL! By the way, outside the lodge stands Miss Santa but I’m not sure if she is part of the attraction.

Just behind the lodge is Voss where the Snowman Making Contest was held. There you’ll see all the snowmen that were built in the contest. Right next to it is a platform leading to a cabin but before you get there you’ll see some nice displays like the Abominable Snowman and Dark Santa Claus.

Winterfest 2007 has just started and their are various activities and events which you can participate in. Just get a copy of the HUD and you’ll be on your way to a Very Merry Christmas in Second Life.

A new group notice regarding the event was sent today by Fooballer Balut. I was a little bit surprised about the announcement because it used the term Filipino Christmas Sim. Surprised and amazed. Wow! An entire sim?! Well, it’s not really an entire sim. My bad! LOL!
So, I dropped by to take a look at the place and there were two avatars there, Fooballer Balut and Maxene Lane. They were busy decorating the place. A lot of things were added since the last time I was there like there are now tables, chairs, food decorations (I call them decorations because you can’t actually eat them, LOL), benches and some other decorative stuff. Oh, there is also a Christmas Tree and I think that they’re also waiting for a lechon from someone which will be placed on the center portion of the buffet table.

I was asked if I want to contribute anything but unfortunately I don’t have anything to contribute that would fit the theme of the event. Oh yeah, I forgot. I did contribute something, the Philippine Flag. I just hope they use it. LOL!

I wasn’t very chatty when I was there because I was to busy tweaking my Windlight settings for my snapshots. LOL!
The event will be on December 18, 2007 at around 8:00pm SLT (Second Life Time). Hopefully, you might even meet some members of the Filipino Second Life Elite like Chino Yalin, Shai Delacroix, Cynara Cortes, Steve Hansen, mikaela Yifu and others (Honestly, I don’t know many of them. I just read some of their names from group chat and other places. LOL).
I will drop by to take paparazzi snaphots of these Filipino Second Life Celebrities and sell them to Second Life magazines like HodgePodge. LOL! *joke*

The Filipino Second Life Community will have a Christmas Celebration in-world, Pinoy style! The preparation is being spearheaded by Isadora Fiddlesticks, publisher of HodgePodge Magazine.

A huge kubo (hut) lined with parols (lanterns) was already setup at Momill. A dance floor, dance ball, DJ station and some lighting and particle effects were also placed.

The event will be on December 18, 2007 at 8:00 pm SLT (Second Life Time). Preparation and decoration of the place is still ongoing. If you would like to participate or contribute or be involved with the preparation and decoration then please send an instant message to Isadora Fiddlesticks.

It’s December 1, 2007 (at least where I am at it is) and Christmas is just around the corner. I’m sure many of you are already shopping for gifts and christmas decorations. Also, as part of the season, sending or giving christmas cards is almost like tradition to many. So, to get into the christmas card giving bandwagon, I started by creating 2 Christmas Cards.

All the cards’ faces are textured. Even the sides are textured unlike some of the cards I’ve seen where only the front of the card is textured. You can also add your own Text Message on the card before giving it to your special someone.
I started with 2 but more will be created and if you like these 2 cards then you can grab one at OnRez.
