Most people will say that bots are just good for camping. Well, they are indeed good for camping but, come on, be creative. There are other things you can do with an SL Bot and I found out about it when I attended Thoys Pan SL Bot Owners Meeting. The meeting isn’t really a meeting but it was like a show and tell kind of a meeting. SL Bot owners came to, well, show off their bots and there was a contest too for the most original bot. The prize was 1,000L$ or a new registered bot to your name.
I know there are many SL Bot owners in Second Life and many of them are land owners or estate owners too. Yeah, you heard that right, land owners. They use bots to camp on their own land to increase traffic. I’m not sure if I had mentioned this somewhere but I once encountered a resident who told me that he was buying 100 bots and he will use them to increase his land traffic and then sell it at a higher price. Well, that’s one thing bots can do for you. Is there anything else?
Well, at the meeting, I took the opportunity to browse around Thoys Pan’s office and there were signs inside his building showing some of the things what an SL Bot can do for you (see photos).
Hmmm… since age play is not allowed in Second Life. I guess using bots as children is an alternative as long as they remain bots I guess. Still, you may get in trouble for this since bots are actually avatars with their own accounts.
If you really need protecting then why not. Feeling safe is always better than being afraid all the time. Ha ha ha!
Now this is taking the phrase “go screw yourself” literally (in a virtual setting). Well, there are Real Dolls in real life so I guess this could act like the SL version of them.
See, they are not only good for camping. They are also good for other things. One really good thing you can do with bots is that you can use them as greeters that is if you are using Thoys SL Bot because other bot programs don’t have the Pandorabot feature. With Pandorabot activated, your bot will be able to communicate (talk) with other residents. You will need to sign up with Pandorabot to use the feature though but sign-up is fast and easy.
And don’t forget the 25,000L$ Survey Bot at Sony&BMG Island which is owned by the Second Life Research Group. That’s a very neat use for a bot. I wonder who won that 25,000L$???
Anyway, if you want to have a bot in Second Life then you can either use SLeek which is FREE or get Thoys’ SL Bot which cost L$2,000. SLeek is very good and free but the current version has a huge memory leak. Thoys has features not available in SLeek like integration with Pandorabot, listening to dialog messages and it uses memory better with very low CPU usage. Both are good so the choice is yours but if you choose Thoys’ SL Bot then you can register your bots at 3 Stars and a Sun.
If you do drop by at 3 Stars and a Sun and you happen to catch Kabalyero Kidd there then you are very much welcome to talk to him. His replies may be off at times so please bear with him because he is still learning. Ha ha ha!
Anyway, bots are not only good for camping and if you use your imagination then I’m pretty sure you’ll find a lot of good things you can use them for.

If you have been to my place in-world, 3 Stars and a Sun, at Scaramanga then I’m sure you have seen my little garden inspired by my country’s culture, the Philippines. I’m proud to be a Filipino, I’m proud of my culture, heritage and history. Not even poverty nor death will make me leave my country. My allegiance is only to one flag and my loyalty is only to one country, my home, the Philippines.
Anyway, my place, 3 Stars and a Sun, used to have 3 levels or floors and the third floor was a mini-garden inspired and dedicated to my country. That was before, now you won’t see it but it’s not gone. I just moved it. Moved it way, way up and since not too many people goes there anyway, I turned it into a personal space.
But today, I set my landing spot there. Anyone who teleports to 3 Stars and a Sun will land there. The place is not really big because I have a very little space to build in. It’s 2o meters wide and it’s 500 meters above ground.
And just like before, I went for a countryside look with bahay kubos, folk dancers and palm trees. There is also a big picture viewer that shows some beautiful places in my country.
I even have a superhero patrolling the sky (not always though) and you’ll be greeted by one of the Philippines’ greatest comic book superheroine, Darna! LOL!
With limited space and prims, my ability to put more objects in is very limited but I’ll try to squeeze in some more prims and we’ll see.

These past few days I found my Second Life plagued with slow movements, high packet loss, rezzing failure, disconnection, crashes, missing assets, inability to login, getting trapped in a logout loop and others but the worst of them all is the extreme lag. The grid is so laggy and choppy that it took me 6 or 8 hours to accomplish easy tasks like building and moving really simple objects.
At first I thought that it could be my connection but visiting Second Life’s blog I found out that Second Life is experiencing a lot of stability and server issues like the following:
Wow! Four issues within a few days. Good thing I still have a First Life to worry about because if not I would be sitting on my chair pulling my hairs out right now (LOL). What really annoys me is that I don’t spend that much time anymore in-world and then all these happen during my in-world time. I wasn’t able to explore new places. I wasn’t able to search for new Camping spots and it took me too much time to renovate 3 Stars and a Sun.
Eventhough those above listed issues were already marked as resolved in Second Life’s official blog, I feel that the grid is still not that stable. I’m still experiencing some lag spikes from time to time but it is stable enough to allow me to build and rearrange some objects at 3 Stars and a Sun.
Everyone is welcome to drop by at 3 Stars and a Sun. I’ve re-textured the inside of the place. It now features an ocean infinity look and I’ve also added some Christmas decorations to spice up the place.
Anyway, I hope that tomorrow’s rolling restart makes everyone’s Second Life worth living again.

Thanks to Andy Evans, First Opinions Panel and to those that signed up with my referral link I was able to pay a 1 week advance in my land rent today.
Checking my e-mail, I saw a message from Andy Evans informing me that 5 people signed up with First Opinions Panel with my referral link and I was paid 500L$ for it. Since I am not getting that many survey invites from First Opinions Panel, in fact zero invites this month, the Linden Dollars coming from referrals are very much welcome and appreciated. 3 Stars and a Sun is the name of my place in Second Life and I’ve made some changes/additions to it.
New Free Linden ATMs
The following Free ATMs are now available for everyone to use. You can earn Linden Dollars from using them by completing offers and/or surveys. The only problem is that most of the offers and surveys available are limited to a few countries but still some of them have offers and/or surveys for international users from time to time.
There is also an Earn2Life ATM where you can register and withdraw your earnings from Earn2Life.

You can get hairs, tattoos, bikinis, gowns, dresses, suits, t-shirts, shoes, avatars, textures and a whole bunch of other stuff FREE at 3 Stars and a Sun. All of these FREE goodies are inside the many Freebie Vendor that surrounds the place. Just click on the NEXT button of the Freebie Vendor to cycle through the contents of the Freebie Vendor. I’m pretty sure that there are more than enough FREE items at 3 Stars and a Sun to get a newbie started with his/her Second Life.
I almost forgot the Freebie Network Giver. You can get some nice stuff from it FREE like the Male Skin pictured above.
New Interior Design
I’ve also changed the way the inside of 3 Stars and a Sun looks. The picture above shows the ground floor with the 2 huge M&M’s standing guard. The picture below shows the second floor of 3 Stars and a Sun. This is where the Free Linden ATMs and other FREE stuff are placed.
