Today I checked my e-mail address where I forward all my Second Life Notices and saw that Medieval England held a Shovel Only FFA (Free For All) Fighting Tournament. What a bummer! I’m not a good fighter, in fact, I never win but I do like competing and recently I’ve entered in a few fighting […]

I learned today that RPG Empire will soon close the Empire of France sim. Unfortunately, the sim was never active. It remained inactive and idle upto this day. I’ve been there a few times and I’ve never met anyone there except for the Queen. I remember that the sim tried to look for roleplayers to […]

We hope it doesn’t seem to cynical of us if we say we aren’t quite certain these Cursed Mountain screenshots are genuinely captured from the game. For one thing, they are offered on the Cursed Mountain website in a 1280×750 resolution. They also feature graphical effects, like the glow around this ghost, that appear to have been added later. Plus we can tell from some of the pixels.
We don’t want to disparage Deep Silver for (potential) doctoring of early screenshots, because we’d have to take the same position against every developer, ever. At least what they intend to do with Cursed Mountain — a survival horror game set in a haunted Tibetan monastery — is cool and original!

Even though we find it strange that High Voltage is reluctant to reveal The Conduit’s publisher, one thing is certain: we can’t stop talking about it. Maybe this was High Voltage’s cunning plan all along: refuse to reveal some incredibly minor, trivial detail about your eagerly anticipated game, and drive bloggers crazy with curiosity. If so, it totally worked with us.
Now, new evidence in this long-running saga suggests Sega will publish the game. Specifically, evidence that … no longer exists. NeoGAFfers claim to have seen an empty folder named “The Conduit” on Sega of America’s press site, only the folder has now been removed. Adding further credibility to the NeoGAF sighting is Nintendo Everything, which screencapped the site before the file was taken down. As usual, no official confirmation means this is classed as rumor for now, but Sega publishing the game seems plausible.

Today, I joined the King of Medieval England and his court in their raid of Scythia. I was in Medieval England to attend Tightline Kidd’s Fighting Class but I think I missed it. I then went home only to return back to Medieval England upon receiving a group notice addressed to the Knights, Squires and […]

Graphics are still a pickable bone for some Wii owners (and more Wii detractors), but not all games need great graphics. In fact, with some, higher quality graphics may even be a slight detriment (Beautiful Katamari’s slow image-loading comes to mind). There are plenty of games with such distinctive (yet simplistic) art styles that rely more on artistic flow than they do on pixel count. On the flip side, too many games spoil their gorgeous graphics in filter overloads.
What comes to mind when we bring up those moments when looks don’t matter? Wii games, games for other systems — anything is go here. In fact, with the frequency of ports among Wii games, maybe titles from other systems are best discussed on this topic!

mikeD Streeter asked me to contact the current King of Sparta about some changes that they did in The Spartan Empire sim. I really didn’t want to bother anyone so I just went there myself. I know, I said I won’t return to The Spartan Empire but this one was different, mikeD requested it.

Slowly, games are starting to trickle out that allow the use of the Balance Board, for activities like skiing, tilting a maze (and infuriating yourself), controlling a robot, playing the drums, and even moving puzzle pieces. Oh, and riding a moose down a mountain. The potential for non-fitness-related fun is increasing.
Have you taken part in any non-Wii Fit-related Wii wobbling? What did you think of the experience? Do you look forward to any future Board-compatible games?

Analysts think that due to the continuing decline of the U.S. dollar and the 13-year high for the Japanese Yen, you won’t be seeing too many hot deals on Nintendo’s Wii this holiday season. With the Yen being so high, it drives up the cost of Japanese goods for U.S. retailers. And, seeing as how the U.S. economy has been in such bad shape all year, merchants have discounted their goods to offset that fall to a point where they can’t afford to lower prices to attract customers any more.
Wii Fit, one of the items analysts see as being a must-have this season, could be most affected. With the profit margin on it so small (same goes for the Wii console itself), retailers can’t afford to cut prices. One positive thing to come out of this, however, is that the Euro has been on a decline, as well. This means that Nintendo should be shipping more to the U.S., whereas in the past, Nintendo focused on Europe first.

Telltale Games has just informed us that the latest episode in the ongoing saga of Strong Bad’s Cool Game For Attractive People has been dated for release on WiiWare this coming Monday, October 27th. If previous episodes are any indication, this latest installment in the series is going to be quite fun. Look for it on Monday, where it’ll be available for download at the usual price of 1,000 Points.
