FarCry2 now officialy announced

The sequel to FarCry, one of the best single-player experiences ever made, has been officially announced by Ubisoft today. This wasn’t any big big surprise since some artwork marked FarCry2 were leaked some time ago but it sure is nice to have official confirmation.

What has me a bit concerned though is the fact that while the original FarCry was developed by the guys at CryTek (the company currently working on Crysis), FarCry2 is being made at Ubisoft’s Montreal studio. Hopefully they’ll keep FC2 true to the original.

John Parkes from Ubisoft: “Far Cry marked the beginning of a new era for shooters. An era of gorgeous graphics and of advanced artificial intelligence. We are confident that Far Cry 2 will have the same impact again on the FPS genre landscape.”

FarCry2 is currently scheduled for a Spring 2008 release for PC. No news on console versions.

Jericho is looking good

jericho.jpgClive Barker’s Jericho looks to be coming along very nicely, as demonstrated by these latest screenshots Codemasters sent out today.

Clive Barker’s Jericho deals with the mysterious reappearance of a lost city in a remote desert. When a form of evil that goes right back to the dawn of days resurfaces from there, a Special Forces squad, trained in both conventional warfare and the arcane arts, is sent in. Their mission: Hunt down and destroy the evil that lurks at the heart of the city before it destroys humanity.

The game should be released some time in September. (more…)

We knew there was some S.T.A.L.K.E.R. related announcement coming from E3 and here it is: GSC Gameworld announced S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky - a prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl - which will be released in Q1 2008.

Hopefully this one won’t be delayed like the original. For now though, check the game description, geatures and the first screenshots: A group of stalkers has for the first time reached the very heart of the Zone – Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and brings about a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe. An immense blowout of anomalous energy changes the Zone. There are no more reliable and relatively safe roads. The entire levels vanish in the outbursts of anomalies. Stalkers and even expeditions die or end up sealed on the lost territories. New areas, which remained unknown since the time of the Zone emergence, appear on the Zone map. The Zone continues to shake with blowouts. The Zone is unstable. The anomalous activity is at its maximum. (more…)
